MVD , Traffic police conduct vehicle checking drive | | | Early Times Report
DODA, May 29: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) in Doda, in collaboration with the Traffic Police, carried out a vehicle checking drive near the Bagar area on the Jammu-Doda National Highway (NH244). Led by ARTO Rajesh Gupta and DTI, a team of officials conducted inspections of vehicles traveling on the NH244, ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. During the drive, transporters were urged to abide by traffic rules and ensure they possessed valid vehicular documents. The team specifically directed load carriers and public transport operators to operate within the carrying capacity specified in their registration certificates. The ARTO issued a stern warning that drivers found engaging in reckless driving, overloading, overcharging, or violating route permits would face severe consequences. In such cases, their permits could be suspended or even revoked entirely. These measures aim to ensure the safety and well-being of both drivers and passengers, as well as maintain law and order on the roads of Doda District. To enhance surveillance and curb rash driving, the district administration has initiated the installation of CCTV cameras at Assar naka and Pul Doda Bridge. The groundwork has been completed, and the cameras are expected to be operational by the end of June. These cameras will play a crucial role in monitoring traffic activities and promoting road safety. |
