Early Times Report JAMMU, May 31: Mahavir International Jammu Center launched a poster on Menstrual Hygiene and Swachhata awareness, along with the distribution of free sanitary pads in slum areas during the program launch. The event was attended by Rekha Mahajan, District President Jammu South, along with Divya Jain, Mahila Morcha District President, and Rajni Jain, General Secretary, among others. Rekha Mahajan, BJP District President, highlighted the importance of free sanitary pad distribution, drawing parallels with the successful Ujjwala scheme. She emphasized that menstrual hygiene is often a taboo topic, making it difficult for women, especially teenagers, to access sanitary pads. The BJP campaign aims to break the silence and provide support. Rekha praised the efforts of Mahavir International Jammu Center in raising awareness among the public in slum areas. Divya Jain stressed the need for educating girls about menstruation, as many of them are unaware and fear discussing it. By distributing sanitary pads, they not only address hygiene needs but also provide education on menstrual health. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat (Clean India) campaign. Rajni Jain, representing the NGO, gave the slogan "Jhijak Chodo, Chupi Todo, Khul kar Bolo," emphasizing the need for open conversations about menstruation. She highlighted the empowerment of women in the modern world and their role in shaping society. |
