GDC Darhal organizes slogan writing competition | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 31: GDC Darhal, in commemoration of "World No Tobacco Day," organized a Slogan Writing Competition. The event, held on May 31, aimed to raise awareness about the harmful health effects of tobacco and advocate for effective government policies to reduce tobacco use worldwide. The theme for the competition was "We Need Food, Not Tobacco," focusing on promoting universal health coverage and the importance of primary health care by minimizing tobacco-related risks. The competition commenced with a pledge taken by the college staff and students, followed by enthusiastic participation in the Slogan Writing Competition. Students showcased their creativity by crafting impactful slogans, drawing attention to the urgent actions required for a healthier lifestyle globally. The first position was jointly secured by Nazia Tabasam and Rafia Kosser from Semester 6th, while the second position was shared by Sobia Naseem from Semester 6th and Ishrat Malik from Semester 2nd. The third position was jointly secured by Samara Jabeen and Anisa Chowdhary from B.A. Semester 6th. Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah, the Principal of the College, provided guidance throughout the event. He emphasized the significance of such initiatives in limiting the consumption of new tobacco products and reducing the impact of second-hand smoke in outdoor spaces, particularly to protect vulnerable groups like children. He further expressed the importance of reducing smoking and the use of tobacco products, especially among young people worldwide. |
