GDC Kathua organize signature campaign to say no to tobacco | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 31: GDC Kathua conducted a signature campaign on "Say No to Tobacco" within the college premises. The event was inaugurated by Principal Prof. Seema Mir, accompanied by esteemed faculty members and officials. Prof. Mir highlighted that the day marked the celebration of "World No Tobacco Day" with this year's theme being "We need food, not tobacco." She emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and its impact on both human health and the environment. Prof. Manmohan Singh addressed the students, shedding light on the adverse consequences faced by tobacco farmers, including exposure to chemical pesticides and nicotine poisoning. A poster-making event was also organized, where volunteers created posters showcasing the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption. Over 200 NSS volunteers actively participated in organizing the event, and numerous students from the college demonstrated their commitment by signing the campaign sheet. The campaign was organized under the patronage of Principal Prof. Seema Mir and under the supervision of NSS program officers Prof. Manmohan Singh, Dr. Neha Bandral, and Dr. Suresh Sharma. It served as an opportunity for the college community to come together and advocate for a tobacco-free society. |
