Awareness Programme on Waste Management organized

JAMMU, May 31: The Department of Environmental Sciences, in collaboration with the Shikshit Bharat Committee of Govt. Degree College, R. S. Pura, organized an "Awareness Programme on Waste Management." This initiative took place under the esteemed patronage of Principal, Prof. Rajni Bhagat, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and G-20 presidency. Prof. Renu Sharma and Prof. Vijay Kumari from the Environmental Sciences Department provided their guidance and supervision.
The event commenced with an enlightening lecture delivered by the faculty of the Environmental Sciences Department. Students were sensitized about effective waste management practices. To assess their learning experience on waste separation into dry-waste and wet-waste components, a waste segregation activity was conducted among the participating students. Additionally, waste management models created by the students were displayed, showcasing their innovative ideas and solutions.
The event was graced by the presence of other esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Neena Gupta, HOD of English, and Prof. Shifali Abrol, HOD of Zoology. They commended the students' efforts in creating waste management models and encouraged them to practice waste segregation at an individual level while promoting waste reduction.
The programme aimed to raise awareness among students and foster a sense of responsibility towards sustainable waste management practices. By engaging the students and highlighting the importance of waste segregation, the event aimed to instill lasting habits that contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.
