| GDC Khour Celebrates World Bicycle Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 3: The NSS unit of GDC Khour organized a celebration for World Bicycle Day, focusing on the theme of "Adopt a Bicycle." The event featured a talk by Prof Dalip Kumar from the Department of Environment Studies. He emphasized the increasing importance of bicycles in today's world, highlighting their role in addressing global challenges like climate change, congestion, and public health concerns. Prof Dalip Kumar discussed how bicycles are an environmentally friendly mode of transportation and suggested that creating bike-friendly cities and communities can greatly improve livability and quality of life. He concluded by highlighting the numerous benefits of adopting bicycles, including environmental sustainability, reduced congestion, improved public health, cost savings, accessibility, and enhanced livability. The program was organized by NSS Programme Officer Gurvinder Kour under the guidance of the college's Principal, Prof. (Dr) T K Sharma. Over 50 students attended the talk, showing their interest and enthusiasm for promoting cycling as a sustainable transportation option. |
