Union territory maintains first rank in food safety index 2022-23 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 7: The Union Territory has maintained its first rank in the UT category in the Food Safety Index 2022-23, conferred by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to the states/UTs. On the eve of the 5th World Food Safety Day, the award was presented to Sh. Shakeel-Ur-Rehman, Commissioner of Food and Drugs Administration, in the presence of the Honorable Union Minister and the Chairperson and CEO of FSSAI. The State Food Safety Index is a dynamic quantitative and qualitative benchmarking model that provides an objective framework for evaluating food safety across all states/UTs. The evaluation process for the 2022-2023 index involved correspondence with Food Safety Commissioners of all UTs/States to gather data for statistical evaluation. The critical indicators considered are Human Resource, Compliance Levels, Food Testing Infrastructure and Surveillance, Training and Capacity Building, and Consumer Empowerment. The award has been conferred after examining the necessary facts obtained from Food Authorities. |
