He discussed the vision and working of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry and presented several suggestions and recommendations related to the tourism sector in Jammu. Rahul Sahai proposed showcasing Jammu’s tourist destinations in Katra town by playing videos in markets, prominent chowks, and along the track. He also suggested the creation of a museum at Katra to showcase Jammu’s destinations. Additionally, he emphasized the need for a vibrant tourism office in Katra to promote Jammu’s attractions to religious tourists. He highlighted the importance of controlling airfares and increasing the number of flights to meet the demand of visitors to Jammu. Rahul Sahai recommended conducting the Suchetghar Beating Retreat daily, similar to the ceremony at the Attari border. He also suggested that the J&K Tourism Twitter handle should showcase Jammu’s activities to raise awareness about the tourist spots in the region. Rahul Sahai urged support for tourism startups, including providing venues for events/festivals in Patnitop and other places, granting liquor licenses, and offering local NOCs and sponsorship support. He proposed introducing new tourist activities such as jungle safaris and sports activities like hosting a Cricket IPL Match at MAM Stadium, developing shooting ranges, and organizing golf tournaments in Jammu. To enhance accessibility and affordability, Rahul Sahai recommended reducing ticket rates for Jammu Gandola and granting a liquor license at Jammu Ropeway restaurant. He also suggested improving infrastructure for destination weddings in Patnitop, developing street markets and pubs similar to McLeodganj, and widening roads. For Sanasar, he emphasized the identification and auctioning of hotel sites to provide quality accommodation for tourists. He proposed facilitating permissions for luxury tents for startups. In Mansar and Surinsar Lakes, he emphasized the need to maintain hygienic conditions, provide seating areas, promote fish feeding activities, and maintain decks. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of wide roads and parking facilities. Regarding Kishtwar and Bhaderwah, Rahul Sahai stressed the need to widen roads, upgrade accommodation facilities, and promote startups. He recommended developing a complete circle of tourist areas, similar to the circuit in Kashmir, to encourage tourists to explore more of Jammu. He suggested creating a dedicated area for land banks related to the tourism sector and identifying land clusters for tourism development in Sanasar, Patnitop, SudMahadev, Bhaderwah, and Kishtwar. This would facilitate the availability of quality hotels and encourage investments with ease of doing business. Rahul Sahai also recommended implementing policies for farm stays and home stays, involving the tourism department in the development of villages for farm stays, and promoting heritage sites such as Mubarak Mandi, Samba Fort, and Chingus Fort. |
