Graduation Ceremony for Foreign students held at SOA | | | Agencies
Bhubaneswar, June 12: A Graduation Ceremony was held on Sunday at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University in Bhubaneswar, where thirty-six international students from Syria, Uganda, Bhutan, and Nepal were awarded their degree certificates in various disciplines. The students successfully completed four-year courses in pharmaceutical sciences, agricultural sciences, and hospitality and tourism management. The program was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Amit Banerjee, the newly appointed Chancellor of SOA, who served as the chief guest and presented the certificates to the graduating students. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Manjula Das, Controller of Examination, Prof. Sudam Ch. Si, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof. Anup Kumar Samantaray, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences and Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout, Additional Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), and Prof. Nachieketa K. Sharma, Director, University Outreach Program. In his address to the graduating students, Prof. (Dr.) Banerjee expressed gratitude to them for choosing SOA as their educational institution and becoming part of the University's extended family. He mentioned that SOA recently secured the 15th rank among the best universities in India in the NIRF rankings conducted by the Government of India. He extended a warm welcome to the students to continue their higher studies at the university. Prof. Nanda emphasized that the graduating students have now become members of the SOA alumni and encouraged them to stay connected with the University. He stated that they would serve as ambassadors for the University in their respective countries or wherever they may be placed, and he wished them success in their future endeavors. Zainab Mushir Iraqi, a pharmaceutical sciences student from Nepal, expressed her gratitude to the University for preparing them for the future and stated that they are ready to face life's challenges. She mentioned that their four-year journey has come to an end, but their commitment to society begins now. Zainab expressed gratitude to the Indian government and Prof. Manojranjan Nayak, the Founder President of SOA, for the opportunity to study at the University. She highlighted the values they have learned during their time at SOA, such as acceptance, tolerance, and the importance of prioritizing education. Ahmed Iskandar from Syria also expressed his appreciation to the University for the guidance and support provided to the foreign students throughout their academic journey. He thanked the Indian and Odia people for their warm hospitality, making them feel at home during their four-year stay, and described it as an unforgettable experience. Prof. Sharma, who remained in constant contact with the students during their time at SOA, emphasized that they would serve as ambassadors of the University abroad. Prof. Das proposed the vote of thanks, concluding the ceremony. |
