Jammu, June 13: The University of Jammu and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have joined hands to foster space science education through collaborative programs. Under this agreement, ISRO will provide internships, mentorship, and capacity building opportunities to Jammu University students and faculty. A meeting was held with senior academicians including Prof Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairman of Higher Education Council, Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, and Prof N. Sudhir Kumar, Director of Capacity Building & Public Outreach at ISRO. Prof Umesh Rai expressed gratitude to ISRO for their willingness to collaborate, which will strengthen academic pursuits in science, space, education, and research. The collaboration will also include research projects mentored by faculty from Jammu University, ISUT, and ISRO. These initiatives will be incorporated into Jammu University’s upcoming “Design Your Degree” program, allowing students to choose subjects of their interest. Additionally, ISRO has agreed to host students visiting as part of the “College on Wheels Train” initiative, providing them with an opportunity to explore various ISRO facilities, including Sriharikota. |
