BIS organizes 'Manak Manthan' on sports footwear standards | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 15: The BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office organized 'Manak Manthan', a technical discussion on Indian Standards for sports footwear (IS 15844). The event took place at The Maya Hotel in Jalandhar, Punjab, with the objective of gathering input from manufacturers in the industry and discussing the provisions of the standard from both technical and user perspectives. The program commenced with a welcome address by. Pankaj Atri, Joint Director of BIS-JKBO, who highlighted the significance of Manak Manthan. He emphasized BIS's role in spearheading a quality revolution in India and shared insights into the initiatives undertaken by BIS to encourage stakeholder involvement at the grassroots level in standardization activities. These efforts aim to enhance technical standards and expand their reach to end users. Officers from BIS JKBO provided an overview of the BIS standard formulation process and familiarized participants with features of the BIS website, such as "Know Your Standards," "Standard of the Week/Month," the manakonline website, and the BIS Care App. Niraj Mishra, Assistant Director of BIS, conducted detailed discussions on all clauses of the sports footwear standard. Participants actively engaged in the session, raising technical and editorial comments that will be forwarded to the relevant technical committee for further deliberation. The event also included interactive open house discussions on the manufacturing and testing processes followed by various industries in Jalandhar. The meeting witnessed the participation of representatives from over 30 different industries in Jalandhar district. The participants applauded the BIS initiative, Manak Manthan, and expressed their appreciation for the insightful discussions. |
