Mental health, drug abuse awareness session held | | | Early Times Report REASI, June 15: Department of Social Welfare Reasi, in collaboration with Police Department, organised an interactive session cum awareness program on Mental Health and Drug Abuse for the students of Government Polytechnic College Reasi, here today. Additional District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Jyoti Salathia was the Chief Guest. The ADDC, while interacting with students, reflected that youth are extremely susceptible to drugs and underlined the need to keep a close vigil on their activities.. "Drugs deteriorate mental health and peer pressure leads vulnerable teenagers to indulge in drug abuse and become addicts. Drugs destroy lives, since the addicts can see nothing beyond their need to take drugs. We must urgently deal with the problem of drug abuse," she said. DySP HQ, while interacting with the students, informed them about the special helpline 9070907017 and urged them to join hands in the fight against drug abuse. The District Social Welfare Officer Reasi also interacted with the students and faculty. He conducted activities with students on the need of "COMMUNICATION & PARTICIPATION". SHO Reasi, in his lecture, acquainted the students about the impact of drugs, the symptoms and controlling measures. Meanwhile, District Mission Co-ordinator, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Reasi, imparted awareness about the One Stop Center, DHEW and Women Helpline services. During the programme, students also participated in various activities like seminars, themed activities and a "Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan" based skit. The programme was joined by DySP HQs Reasi, Neeraj Padyar; Principal Govt Polytechnic College Reasi, Vinay Gupta and District Social Welfare Officer Reasi, Pallvi Sharma. |
