AGENCIES MUMBAI, June 15: Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, called upon the participants of the National Legislators' Conference (NLC) to pass a resolution declaring Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir as an integral part of India. He highlighted the resolution previously passed by the Indian Parliament on February 22, 1994, which aimed to reclaim the remaining parts of Kashmir, including Gilgit and Baltistan, currently under Pakistan's control. Speaking at the Executive Council meeting of the NLC in Mumbai, Kavinder emphasized the need for a resolution recommending the integration of Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir into India. He highlighted that the Parliament had already passed a resolution, and one-third of the seats have been reserved for the region, with members to be nominated unanimously. Kavinder also advocated for making an appeal to the government to reclaim the Indian territory illegally occupied by Pakistan. The National Legislators' Conference (NLC) spans three days and is currently being held at the Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, Maharashtra, from June 15 to June 17. The conference provides a platform for legislators, assembly speakers, and former Lok Sabha speakers to engage in meaningful debates and discussions to enhance the functioning of legislative bodies. With the participation of over 2,000 MLAs and MLCs from various state assemblies and councils, the conference addresses significant topics such as technology-driven economic growth, international legislative practices, collaborative efforts for social progress between bureaucrats and legislators, welfare politics, and constituency development. The conference also recognizes the importance of holistic well-being and includes special sessions on stress management and maintaining a healthy work-life balance for lawmakers. |
