KISHTWAR, June 15: HelpAge India, the implementing agency of the National Helpline for Senior Citizens, in Jammu & Kashmir, today organized an event to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in the Conference Hall of DC Office Kishtwar. The programme was attended by distinguished guests and prominent figures from various organizations and communities. Among the attendees were BDC Chairman Suresh Sharma; SSP, Khalil Poswal, Tehsildar Kishtwar, Muneeb Umar; DSWO, Zubair Ahmad; TSWO Kishtwar, Rajesh Sharma; TSWO Padder Chetna Sharma; President Senior Citizens Council Roshan Lal; Chairman Senior Citizens Council Kishtwar Khurshid Ahmad; members of Senior Citizens Council Kishtwar, representatives from Various NGO’s like Red Cross Kishtwar, Hilal Healthcare, Ababeel and students of Softek institute of information Technology Kishtwar, Showkat Hussain and Shahid Hussain from HelpAge India along with other prominent senior citizens of Jammu. The program commenced with welcome address of Showkat Hussain, Field Response Leader J&K. Subsequently, Khalil Poswal, SSP Kishtwar shared his insightful views on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, followed by a screening of a short video developed by HelpAge India with the theme Mein Bhi Hoon. On this significant occasion, HelpAge India also released its National Report 2023 titled "Women & Ageing: Invisible or Empowered?". The report sheds light on the challenges faced by elderly women and advocates for their empowerment in society. In conclusion, BDC Chairman Kishtwar Suresh Sharma, expressed his gratitude to the audience for their presence and support in making the event a success.
