Early Times Report RAMBAN, June 16: Ramban Police successfully intercepted a narcotics smuggling attempt at Banihal and apprehended two individuals in possession of a substance resembling heroin. While conducting routine checkpoint inspections at T-Chowk Naka Banihal, a police team stopped two pedestrians who were walking from the railway station road towards Banihal market. Upon searching them, the police recovered approximately 10 grams of a substance resembling heroin, along with Rs 10,000 in cash, and two syringes wrapped in foil. The individuals were identified as Saqib Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmed, resident of Malwat Changloo, and Muzaffar Ahmed, son of Habib Ullah Wagay, resident of Karawah Banihal, presently staying at Gujjar Nagar Jammu. The accused were arrested on the spot, and the seized contraband was duly documented in the presence of an Executive Magistrate. A case, FIR No. 142/2023 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Banihal Police Station, and an investigation has been initiated. The arrest and recovery were made by the police team from Banihal Police Station, led by PSI Ishan Sharma, In-Charge SHO Banihal, under the supervision of SDPO Banihal, Nisar Ahmed Khoja JKPS, and overall supervision of SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma IPS. |
