Early Times Report JAMMU, June 16: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of GDC Marh organized a two-day awareness program on "Kissan Sampark Abhiyan under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme." The event, held in collaboration with district nodal officers from various departments, aimed to educate students, staff, and faculty about agricultural initiatives. Officials from departments such as horticulture, agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and veterinary sciences shared valuable insights with the participants. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, the Principal of the college, who emphasized the importance of such awareness programs for the betterment of society. Dr. Balwinder Saini, Head of the Chemistry department, delivered a welcome address, highlighting the significance of imparting skills and fostering entrepreneurship among the students. During the sessions, the students were informed about government schemes, subsidies, and various aspects of agriculture. Topics covered included dairy and milk product production, Kisan Credit Card, PM Fasal Bima Yojna, cash crops, hydroponics, mushroom production, fruit plants, sheep and goat rearing, and fish farming. The resource persons provided valuable insights, shared success stories, and answered students' questions. The program concluded with a request for collaboration in establishing a Vermicompost facility, kitchen garden, and obtaining fruit plants for the college. Students were also provided with literature on the schemes, and refreshments were served.
