Samba, June 16: Under the guidance of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, the police have made significant progress in combating drug trafficking, resulting in the arrest of 50 notorious narco-suppliers within a span of five months. Two individuals have been detained under the PITNDPS Act as well, showcasing the district’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drug peddling. In a recent operation, a notorious drug peddler, Aman Kumar Sharma, was apprehended with a substantial amount of heroin (‘chitta’) worth approximately rupees 15,000.00. A case has been registered against him under FIR No. 139/2023 u/s 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act at Police Station Bari Brahmana. The investigation is currently underway. Aman Kumar Sharma, known for collecting heroin from the Bari Brahmana area, was intercepted by the police while leaving a notorious hotspot after procuring the drugs. The intensified patrolling by the police aims to target heroin suppliers operating in the heavily affected areas of Samba District. The arrest was made possible by the dedicated efforts of a police team led by SHO Police Station Bari Brahmana, Sunil Sharma, and PSI Rajat Sharma. They were under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana, Rahul Nagar, and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary. SSP Samba Benam Tosh stated that the district has witnessed a total of 50 arrests of notorious narco-suppliers and smugglers, including prominent inter-state heroin smugglers, within the past five months. Furthermore, several individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act in separate FIRs. Two notorious heroin suppliers have also been detained and are currently in jail under the provisions of the PITNDPS Act, 1988. The police remain committed to taking stringent legal action against all individuals involved in heroin smuggling, supply, and peddling activities, with the goal of completely eliminating the drug menace from the Samba District. |
