Early Times Report JAMMU, June 19: GDC Udhampur recently organized a three-day Yog Shivir in conjunction with Azadi ka Amrut Kaal and to celebrate International Yoga Day. The event was organized by the NSS Units and NCC battalions of the college, with a focus on this year's theme, 'Yoga for Vasudaiva Kutumbakam,' which emphasizes our shared aspirations for a united world. The Yog Shivir took place at GDC Udhampur under the patronship of Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, the college principal. The event commenced with a morning prayer followed by Pranayam, which aimed at detoxifying and destressing the body and mind. During the inauguration of the Yog Shivir, Dr. Rippy Bawa, the NSS Program Officer of the college, oriented the NSS Volunteers, NCC cadets, and other students about the theme of this year's International Yoga Day. She highlighted the enduring practice of yoga and its potential to contribute towards a harmonious global community. Dr. Ajay Sharma, another NSS Program Officer, emphasized the holistic benefits of incorporating yoga into one's life for mental and physical well-being. Prof. Shivani Sharma, the NCC Associate NCC Officer (ANO), discussed the role of yoga in combating the drug menace and introduced students to various yoga asanas and kriyas that can enhance immunity. Principal Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta emphasized the significance of yoga, particularly for the youth who may struggle with directionlessness. He expressed his deep appreciation for the NSS Program Officers and NCC ANO for organizing such an event. |
