Seminar on "Kashmir's role in the Indian freedom struggle"

Jammu, June 19: Sanjeevni Sharda Kendra, in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Research on Development and Change, organized a full-day seminar on the prestigious event titled "The Role of Kashmir in the Indian Freedom Struggle" under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The event took place at the revered Jyestha Mata Temple in Kashmir and saw enthusiastic participation from eminent personalities, intellectuals, and citizens of Kashmir, as well as from other parts of the country.
The seminar began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the acquisition of knowledge.
This was followed by captivating cultural performances, including the heartfelt recitation of patriotic songs and verses from the Bhagavad Gita by children from Baramulla. Their performances deeply resonated with the audience, instilling a sense of pride and patriotism.
Dr. Maharaj Krishan Bharat, Chairman of Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, delivered the welcome speech. He highlighted the remarkable contributions of the Kendra and discussed various activities being conducted regularly.
Dr. Bharat also mentioned the glorious history of freedom fighters in Kashmir and highlighted the preservation of the historical and cultural texts written in the Sharda script of Kashmir by the Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra. He mentioned ongoing workshops on Kashmiri Shavism and online teaching of the Sharda script.
The program was chaired by Dr. Kartar Chand Sharma, a Professor in the Sanskrit Department at the University of Kashmir.
In his presidential address, he emphasized that the event aimed to shed light on the significant role played by Kashmir in India's freedom struggle and to honor the brave freedom fighters of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Sharma deemed the event a remarkable success, as it brought together a diverse audience passionate about preserving and commemorating Kashmir's historical contributions to the nation's independence.
The highlight of the event was the thought-provoking keynote address by Ashutosh Bhatnagar, a distinguished senior journalist, writer, and Director of the Jammu & Kashmir Study Centre.
Bhatnagar captivated the audience with his deep insights into Kashmir's historical involvement in the freedom struggle, enlightening everyone present with his profound knowledge.
Adding grandeur to the event, Bharat Bhusan Bhat, President of the Jyestha Devi Temple Trust, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His presence added a sense of reverence and authenticity to the proceedings, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual significance of Kashmir.
The esteemed speakers eloquently expressed their perspectives on the invaluable contributions made by Kashmir to the struggle for independence, emphasizing the sacrifices and dedication of the freedom fighters from Jammu and Kashmir.
Sunil Vasishtha concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the participants, organizers, and attendees.
He assured everyone that the Government of India plans to organize similar events in different parts of the valley in the near future, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for Kashmir's role in India's freedom struggle.
The event witnessed overwhelming participation from various educational institutions in the Kashmir Valley, as well as devotees from across the country.
Their active involvement and enthusiastic engagement highlighted the deep-rooted appreciation for Kashmir's historical heritage and the desire to preserve and promote it for future generations.
