JAMMU, June 20: NSS Unit at Sewak, Government Degree College Neeli Nallah in Udhampur organized a two-day workshop to commemorate International Yoga Day (20-21st June) with the theme "Yoga For Humanity." The event was held as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The workshop consisted of various activities, including theoretical and practical sessions, poster making, slogan writing competitions, and watching yoga videos with participants' families.
The workshop commenced with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp by the Principal, yoga experts, staff members, and students. The Principal of the college, Prof. Hans Raj, delivered a welcome address, highlighting the objective of celebrating World Yoga Day, which aimed to raise awareness about the ancient practice of yoga and its positive impact on physical and mental well-being. He urged all participants to incorporate yoga into their daily lives.
Dr. Ranjana Verma, Assistant Professor in the PG Department of Yoga at Central University Jammu, along with Yoga Instructor Rashmi Khajuria, conducted various yoga sessions during the workshop. They introduced participants to different yoga asanas such as Kapal Bharti, Pranayama, Sankalpa, and meditation. They encouraged students to actively engage in these asanas and meditation practices. The Principal, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff members, also participated in the yoga sessions.
The participants expressed a sense of relaxation and positivity after engaging in the yoga and meditation sessions, which they shared during the interactive session. Additionally, students displayed posters and slogans highlighting the benefits of yoga in everyday life.
The workshop was organized under the guidance of Prof. Hans Raj, the Principal of the college. Dr. Radha Rani, NSS PO, served as the convener of the program, and Dr. Swati Dutt organized the event.
This workshop provided an excellent platform for students and staff members to come together and celebrate International Yoga Day, promoting the significance of yoga in fostering physical and mental well-being. Such initiatives play a crucial role in creating awareness and encouraging individuals to adopt yoga as a part of their daily routines, ultimately leading to a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
