Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 22: The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu, held a series of online events to commemorate the 9th International Yoga Day 2023. These events were organized as part of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) launched by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma, the college celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm.
In her message, Prof. Sharma emphasized the invaluable gift of yoga from India's ancient tradition. International Yoga Day, celebrated on 21st June each year, aims to promote the numerous benefits of practicing yoga. The day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the holistic approach to well-being that yoga offers, highlighting the importance of achieving balance in our fast-paced, modern lives. Yoga encourages physical, mental, and spiritual harmony, fostering mindfulness, stress reduction, and overall health and vitality.
The events organized by the NSS unit included a poster-making competition on the theme "Yoga for Wellbeing" and a quiz competition, both witnessing active participation from the students. Additionally, there was a yoga asanas contest, where participants uploaded pictures of themselves performing yoga poses. All students showed great enthusiasm and zeal throughout the events.
The dedicated NSS volunteers Jaanvi Sharma, Rakshant Balotra, Sunidhi Sharma, and Satvik Partap successfully organized these events under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Raman Gupta. Dr. Gupta highlighted that people from all walks of life can benefit from practicing yoga, as it is becoming increasingly recognized as a friendly and trusted way to maintain fitness and good health. Yoga is known for its ability to reduce tension, stress, and work pressure, benefiting both our physical and daily routine activities.
The college principal extended her congratulations to the NSS team for organizing such meaningful programs, emphasizing the significance of promoting yoga and its positive impact on individuals' lives.
