Hot, dry weather to continue in J&K | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 22: Hot and dry weather is likely to continue with a brief spell of Shower at one or two places during the next 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Thursday. The Meteorological Department forecast of mainly hot and dry weather to continue with a brief spell of Shower or thunderstorm at one or two places towards late afternoon or evening can't be ruled out. It said the weather generally will remain cloudy with Light rain or thunderstorm at scattered places of Jammu and a few places of Kashmir division on June 24 while it would be generally cloudy with intermittent light to moderate thundershowers at many places from June 25-28. Few places over Jammu division may receive intense showers for a short period, it said. The MeT office said the maximum temperature over the plains of Kashmir division is likely to range between 32-35?C and 40-41?C over the plains of Jammu till June 23. Kashmir valley observed the season's hottest day yesterday with temperatures continuing to soar all over the valley and Srinagar recorded at 34 degree Celsius on Wednesday. Srinagar recorded a low of 20.5?C against 19.7?C on the previous night and it was above normal by 4.79?C for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Qazigund, had a low of 17.2?C against 17.4?C on the previous night and it was above normal by 2.9?C for the gateway of Kashmir. Pahalgam, recorded a low of 11.3?C against 10.6?C on the previous night and it was 2.2?C above normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. Kupwara settled at 17.4?C against 16.5?C on the previous night and it was above normal by 3.3?C for the north Kashmir area, while Kokernag recorded a low of 17.7?C against 18.0?C on the previous night and it was 3.6?C above normal for the place famous picnic spot of south Kashmir. Gulmarg recorded a low of 13.5?C against 13.6?C on the previous night and it was above normal by 3.8?C for the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, the MeT office said. |
