BALASORE, June 23: Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy CM of J&K, expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in Odisha, attributing it to the successful nine-year tenure of the BJP-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the shifting mindset of the people at the state and UT levels. He made these remarks during a grand event held to commemorate Balidan Diwas of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee in Balasore on Friday.
Gupta praised Mukherjee's significant contributions to India's development, particularly in the fields of commerce and industry. He described Mukherjee as a visionary who believed that the purpose of power was not to rule, but to work dedicatedly for nation-building. Gupta highlighted Mukherjee's strong opposition to Article 370, which he perceived as a threat to national unity. He commended Mukherjee's stance against the prevailing system in former J&K state, advocating for "Ek Desh Mein Do Vidhan, Do Pradhan Aur Do Nishan Nahi Chalenge" (One Country, One Constitution, One Prime Minister).
Paying homage to the martyrs of the 1953 Praja Parishad agitation in J&K, Gupta emphasized that the agitation aimed to ensure the complete integration of J&K with the rest of the country through the slogan "Ek Vidhan-Ek Nishan-Ek Pradhan" (One Constitution, One Flag, One Prime Minister). He attributed the true tribute to these martyrs to the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35(A) by the Narendra Modi-led government, stating that their souls were now at peace in heaven.
Gupta expressed his belief that the people of Odisha and the entire country had recognized the nationalistic values of the BJP and had made up their minds to vote for the party in both state and Lok Sabha elections, ensuring a resounding majority for the BJP in power.
As part of the party's campaign to celebrate nine years of the Modi government and showcase its achievements across the state, Gupta presented a book containing 100 documents related to the Parja Parishad Andolan to Bishnu Das, Cluster Incharge.
It is worth mentioning that Gupta's visit to Odisha is aimed at highlighting the achievements of the Modi government and connecting with people in every corner of the state. He was accompanied by MP Partap Sarangi, District President Umakant Mahapatra, former MLA Jeevandas, and former MLA Gobind Das.
