VC SKUAST addresses faculty members, outlines development roadmap

JAMMU, June 27: Dr. B.N. Tripathi, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, addressed the faculty members and scientists from various faculties at the Chatha and R.S. Pura Campus of the University. This marked his first interaction with the faculty since assuming the position on 20th June 2023. The purpose of the address was to share his vision and roadmap for the university's development, aiming to enhance its national and international presence.
Expressing his pride and enthusiasm, Dr. Tripathi commended the faculty and scientists for their remarkable work, which has contributed to the university's significant progress in a short span of time. He emphasized the importance of the National Education Policy (NEP) and the commitment to increase student enrollment by ten percent annually under the policy. Dr. Tripathi encouraged the faculty to passionately support students' learning goals and continuously explore ways to improve the quality of education, equipping students with essential skills for their future endeavors.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by students, the Vice Chancellor assured that efforts would be made to reach out to each student and provide necessary support to overcome difficulties. He emphasized the need for optimization in designing systems and solutions, prioritizing imparting education through quality learning. Dr. Tripathi emphasized the importance of capitalizing on available resources, fostering innovative thinking, and keeping pace with advancements.
Furthermore, Dr. Tripathi urged teachers to encourage entrepreneurship among students, highlighting the significance of self-reliance and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities. He emphasized the need for linkages with industries through Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, which would enhance research and development efforts while providing students with valuable learning experiences. The Vice Chancellor also stressed the importance of strong collaborations with other universities in the region for quality teaching and research.
In his vision for SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. Tripathi aspires to establish the university as a leading institution globally. He emphasized the crucial role of research, stating that a university that promotes research and publication will undoubtedly reach new heights. The Vice Chancellor emphasized the university's goals of generating knowledge, disseminating information, and providing community service through teaching, research, and extension activities.
Dr. Tripathi acknowledged the enormous challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the collective support, wisdom, and unity of the university community to bring about the desired change.
The session began with a warm welcome by Dr. S. K. Gupta, Registrar cum Dean, FoH&F, SKUAST-Jammu, who also presented the Vice Chancellor's curriculum vitae.
