Manik Batra highlights importance of cooperative movement at 17th Indian cooperative congress | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3: Manik Batra, Director of Batra Group and Chairman of ASSOCHAM J&K Council, emphasized the importance of the cooperative movement in India during the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress held in New Delhi. Speaking at the technical session of the congress, Batra highlighted the significant role cooperatives can play in empowering the country’s youth by providing opportunities for employment, as well as a platform to showcase their creativity, talent, and entrepreneurship skills. He emphasized that cooperatives have the potential to promote economic growth, social welfare, environmental sustainability, and cultural diversity. Batra also mentioned the need for cross-sectoral collaborations and the involvement of youth in realizing the full potential of cooperatives. The event also saw the launch of the e-commerce platform ‘NCUI Haat’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at helping cooperatives sell their products across geographies and providing training and support for capacity building. PM Modi stressed the importance of harnessing technology to uplift cooperative societies and reduce dependency on cash transactions, highlighting India’s dominance in digital transactions. |
