Workshop on Art, Craft organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3: The Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), in collaboration with the Department of Commerce at the University of Jammu, organized a 10-day workshop on “Promotion of Art and Craft” at Ved Mandir in Jammu. The workshop was inaugurated by Sh. Nagar Mal Gupta, Secretary of the Ved Mandir Committee, who commended the efforts of the departments in organizing skill-based workshops for underprivileged students. The workshop aimed to equip the participants with basic art and craft skills to enhance their financial independence. Various themes such as Deco Page, Lipon Art, Waste Material Management, Clay Modelling, and Decoration of Diyas and Thalis were covered during the workshop. The workshop featured Smt. Sanjogita Dogra, founder of Budha Art and Paintings, and Mrs. Rekha Gupta as resource persons. Smt. Sanjogita Dogra provided counseling and encouraged the participants to become job providers rather than job seekers. The Department of Commerce at the University of Jammu sponsored the workshop, and Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, H.O.D. Department of Commerce and Director of DLL, University of Jammu, provided guidance for the event. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor at DLL, and Dr. Tarsem Lal, Associate Professor and Incharge of Extension and Outreach Activities at the Department of Commerce, coordinated the workshop and assured the Ved Mandir management of continued support and guidance in the future. The inaugural function of the workshop saw the enthusiastic participation of around 15 girls from Balika Bhawan at Ved Mandir. |
