Early Times Report KATHUA, July 8: Kathua Police Takes Swift Action, Arrests Narcotics Smuggler with Ganja-like Substance at Atal Setu Bridge Basohli. Kathua Police conducted a successful operation today to combat the menace of drugs within the district. During routine naka/patrolling at Atal Setu Bridge Basohli, a police team led by Inspector Jaswinder Singh, SHO P/S Basohli, assisted by PSI Kusum and supervised by SDPO Billawar, Surinder Khadyar, apprehended a suspicious individual walking from Punjab towards Basohli. Subsequently, a search was conducted, leading to the recovery of ganja-like narcotics from the person identified as Anwar Hussain, son of Mohd. Sharief, resident of Chandhyari, Tehsil Bani, District Kathua. The seized narcotics, identified as ganja, were promptly confiscated, and Anwar Hussain was arrested at the scene. A case (FIR No. 47/2023) under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Basohli. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway. The decisive action taken by Kathua Police in this operation has received commendation from the general public. SSP Kathua, Sh.
