Early Times Report JAMMU, July 14: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the Social Welfare Department of Jammu and Kashmir, and Sangam Tru Art Production, presented a grand cultural program titled "Nasha Kola Bacho" (Children, Beware of Addiction) at the Rehearsal Hall on Disco Road, Janipur, Jammu. The event was part of the 367th Friday Series Musical Play organized by BLSKS, aiming to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the preventable death and diseases it causes. The program began with a pledge-taking ceremony, where more than 50 students, teachers, and prominent citizens took an oath to combat addiction. M.C. Kotwal, Secretary of BLSKS, administered the pledge. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, V.K. Magotra, Former Regional Director of the Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, along with Dr. Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director of the J&K Health Department, and Mukesh Singh, a prominent media person in Jammu and Kashmir. The day was dedicated to rejuvenating the traditional and primitive folk art and culture of the Jammu and Kashmir region, as well as spreading awareness about the ill effects of tobacco consumption. The program featured various performances including folk songs, skits, nukkad (street) plays, and dances with themes centered around the harmful consequences of drug abuse. Popular songs like "Nasha na Karna Man lo Khena Payaro Bhai behna Hogi Badi Kharabi" (Do not consume addiction, understand the consequences, my brother and sister, it will lead to ruin), "Bacho Bacho Tobacoo Kola Bacho" (Children, beware of tobacco). |
