Early Times Report JAMMU, July 14: The ten-day High-End Skilling Workshop on Modern Analytical Techniques in Food Biochemistry, sponsored under the Vigyan Accelerate Karyashala Scheme of DST-SERB, successfully concluded at the Division of Biochemistry, Faculty of Basic Sciences, SKUAST-Jammu. The valedictory function was graced by Dr. B. N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu. During his address, Dr. Tripathi emphasized the significance of modern analytical techniques in food biochemistry to assess the nutritional status of food items. He commended the organizers for their meticulous selection and training of students in this vital area of science. Dr. Tripathi highlighted the relevance of these techniques in today's health-conscious society and urged both scientists and students to stay updated with emerging high-end technologies. He encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship opportunities in the field of food technology, becoming self-reliant budding entrepreneurs. The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor also stressed the importance of conducting research on the fundamental scientific aspects of food science, considering food as a lifeline. Earlier, Dr. S.E.H. Rizvi, Dean of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, welcomed the guests and briefed them about the faculty's activities and ongoing research. He expressed hope that the workshop had provided students with valuable exposure and hands-on skills in modern analytical techniques in biochemistry. Dr. Moni Gupta, Professor of Biochemistry and Course Director of the workshop, presented a comprehensive report on the workshop's proceedings and the topics covered during the ten-day training program. Twenty students from various institutes and universities across India, including DCRUST, Murthal; SVPUAT, Meerut; MDS University, Rohtak; CCHU, Hissar; Bharthiar University, Coimbatore; CSIR-IIIM, Jammu; University of Jammu; and SKUAST-Jammu, actively participated in this high-end skilling workshop. The students benefited from twenty-nine lectures and hands-on practical sessions conducted by experts from renowned institutes, such as the University of Technology, Malaysia; PAU, Ludhiana; University of Mysuru, Mysore; CSIR-IIM; University of Jammu; and SKUAST-Jammu. Additionally, the students had the opportunity to visit premier institutes in and around Jammu to gain exposure to modern analytical techniques in food biochemistry.
