Srinagar, July 16: Rains lashed Kashmir valley bringing respite from hot and humid weather even as the Meteorological department predicted more showers in the valley and Jammu on Sunday. The Met Office said currently it was raining at Srinagar, Bandipore, Ganderbal, Phalgam-HolyCave, and Banihal and the sky was overcast to cloudy in other places. The weather generally will remain cloudy with 1-2 spells of rain at most places of Kashmir and at scattered places of the Jammu region in the forenoon. It said rain or thundershower at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir likely towards early morning or late afternoon and evening from July 17-20, while intermittent Light to moderate rain or thundershower will occur at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir from July 21-22. “Overall, there’s no forecast of any major rainfall till July 25”, the weather office said. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 21.6 degrees Celsius, Qazigund 19.4, Pahalgam 16.2, Kupwara 17.9, Kokernag 18.8 and Gulmarg 14.0. |
