Early Times Report SAMBA, July 16: Samba Police, under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, have successfully apprehended six individuals involved in various criminal activities, including illicit drug trade, crime against women, and timber smuggling. The arrests were made in four separate cases registered in the district, resulting in the seizure of Charas, Opium straw, and Timber. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jagpal Singh, Sumeer Kumar, Vinay Sharma, Om Parkash, Anil, and Deepak. Jagpal Singh, Anil, and Deepak were apprehended under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, Vinay and Om were arrested for assaulting a female student and others, and Sumeer was taken into custody for timber smuggling. The cases were registered under FIR No. 177/2023 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act, FIR No. 172/2023 u/s 8/15/20/27/29 NDPS Act, FIR No. 56/2023 u/s 379 IPC & 26 Forest Act, and FIR No. 174/2023 u/s 307/323/147/148 IPC. The arrests were carried out by dedicated police teams led by officers such as PSI Sajid Jaral, PSI Deepika Jalotra, Rajeshwar Singh, and Bharat Bhushan, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs. Samba Garu Ram and Addl. SP Samba Surinder Choudhary. Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh emphasized that stringent action is being taken against individuals involved in drug-related crimes, crimes against women, and smuggling activities in the district.
