Fraudster Saroop Lal detained under PSA for multiple offenses
7/18/2023 10:30:15 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 18: Saroop Lal, a notorious conman involved in multiple fraudulent activities, has been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) by the Crime Branch of Jammu (CB-Jammu). The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch recommended his detention, citing his extensive criminal history.
Saroop Lal, aged 60 and a resident of Allah, District Jammu, with an address at Ward No. 04, H. No. 70 Rajiv Colony Bari Brahmana, has been implicated in nine First Information Reports (FIRs) and two preliminary verifications conducted by the Crime Branch. His fraudulent activities primarily targeted innocent unemployed youth.
The conman first came to the attention of the Crime Branch in 2006 when the initial FIR was lodged against him for fabricating fake and forged appointment orders. Since then, he has continued his illicit activities, deceiving and defrauding as many as 19 unemployed individuals, amassing large sums of money in the process. Some of his associates have already been apprehended, while others are currently under investigation.
Following this significant arrest, the Crime Headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir has instructed its various wings to take similar actions against repeat and habitual offenders. Furthermore, they have emphasized the need to expedite investigations and ensure a professional approach in bringing these individuals to justice swiftly.
The detention of Saroop Lal under the PSA serves as a strong message to fraudsters and swindlers, warning them that their illegal activities will not go unpunished. The authorities are committed to safeguarding the interests of innocent individuals and preventing them from falling victim to such scams.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the Crime Branch will continue its diligent efforts to gather evidence against Saroop Lal and any accomplices involved in his fraudulent operations. The detention order signifies a step toward ensuring a safer environment for the community and deterring others from engaging in similar criminal activities.
