KVK successfully concludes three-day event on ICAR foundation, technology | | | Early Times Report REASI, July 18: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, operating under the administration of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), successfully concluded a three-day event celebrating the 95th Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Foundation and Technology Day. The event took place at the KVK Reasi campus and saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of farmers, farm women, rural youths, Self Help Groups (SHGs), and Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) from the district. The program included various technical sessions, theoretical discussions, and field visits. The event, organized under the guidance of Director Extension, Prof. SK Gupta of SKUAST-Jammu, commenced with a warm welcome from Sr. Scientist & Head of KVK Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal. During the valedictory session, Dr. Lal highlighted the accomplishments of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in benefitting the farming community. He emphasized that ICAR plays a crucial role in achieving self-sufficiency in food grains and ensuring nutritional security in India. Dr. Sanjay Kaushal educated the farmers about the agricultural research, education, and technologies developed by ICAR and its institutions. Dr. Lalit Upadhyay spoke about environmental protection and tree plantation, while Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi focused on high-tech horticulture and highlighted ICAR's pioneering role in ushering the Green Revolution and subsequent agricultural developments across the country. Meena Dogra from Nehru Yuva Kendra emphasized the importance of tree plantation, and the program also featured the presence of awardee/progressive farmers who shared their valuable experiences with fellow farmers. Participants had the opportunity to visit the KVK crop cafeteria, as well as various units such as hydroponics, azolla, vermicompost, hatchery, and natural farming established at KVK Reasi. The attendees showed keen interest in the technologies demonstrated by the KVK. Additionally, a video showcasing soil health management, commercial agriculture, and an exhibition stall were arranged for the participants. KVK scientists satisfactorily addressed the queries raised by farmers during the program. Sarpanch Sukhdev Singh of the area commended the efforts of KVK Reasi in promoting the welfare of farmers. The event was also attended by Dr. Arvinder Kumar, Manohar Lal, Preeti Chaudhary, Sanjay Kumar, Mohd. Iqbal, and concluded with a formal vote of thanks from Kamal Singh, Naib Sarpanch of the area. |
