7 days police remand for self-styled journalist arrested over terror funding charges | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 21: J&K Police has secured seven-days police remand for custodial examination of a self-styled journalist who was arrested yesterday in an alleged terror funding case. Police said self-styled journalist Muzamil Zahoor of Indergam Pattan Baramulla was arrested during the investigation of a case wherein recovery of Rs 31.65 lakhs was effected. Five accused have already been arrested in the case. Police said he had received funds in lakhs meant for terror activities from Lashakr-e-Taiba. “He is a self styled journalist as well. He had opened a fake account on forged identity in a bank for transactions related to furtherance of the activities of the banned LET outfit,” a police spokesman said. “ He had received funds in lakhs meant for terror activities in this account from the main terror hawala operator of LeT. Incriminating material has also been seized from accused at the time of his arrest.” Police said seven days Police remand of the accused was taken for custodial examination. The five accused already arrested in the case include Umar Dar and Salik Mehraj both residents of Soiteng, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqi of Kursoo Rajbagh, Zamrooda Habib Sanatnagr Srinagar and Yasmeen Raja of Tulbagh Pampore |
