Kathua police busts illicit liquor racket, arrests female suspect with 10 litres of illegal liquor | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, July 21: In yet another significant breakthrough in their relentless crusade against the illicit liquor trade, Kathua Police successfully apprehended a female suspect with approximately 10 litres of illicit liquor (Desi) in the Chak Desa Singh area of PS Kathua. The operation was conducted under the astute leadership of Insp. Sudhir Sadhotra, SHO PS Kathua, and the able supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua, Sh. Manjeet Singh. Based on credible information regarding the illegal sale of illicit liquor by certain individuals in the Chak Desa Singh vicinity and its adjacent areas, a specialized police team was formed to conduct a thorough inspection. During the operation, one suspect, identified as Nitu Devi, wife of Mohinder Kumar and resident of Kullian Chak Drab Khan Kathua, was intercepted and found to be in possession of approximately 10 litres of illicit liquor. Further investigations revealed that Nitu Devi was involved in selling the illegal liquor to the local populace, aiming to gain unjustified profits. The entire cache of illicit liquor, totaling around 10 litres, was promptly seized, and Nitu Devi was taken into custody. A case was registered against her under FIR No. 310/2023 U/S 48(a) Excise Act at PS Kathua. The timely and proactive action taken by Kathua Police in apprehending the female suspect and confiscating the illicit liquor reflects their unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order in the region. The police force remains steadfast in their efforts to curb the illegal liquor trade and ensure the safety and well-being of the community. |
