3-day training program on Drug Demand Reduction program concludes | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, July 22: The 3-day training program on 'Early Detection of Drug Abuse and Post-Detection Management' under National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction Program concluded here today in Government Degree College Kathua. Training programme was organized by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with ICDS, Health and Education Department as part of JK UT Government's Action Plan to counter the challenge of drug abuse and eradicate this menace by creating a pool of Master Trainers to create an effective team on ground level under the National Action Plan For Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR). The three day training programme witnessed participation of Anganwadi Workers, ASHA workers, Counsellors of One-Stop Centre, Teachers, police personnel and NCC and NSS volunteers of degree colleges. Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal Seema Mir emphasized the importance of creating awareness and spreading knowledge to prevent drug abuse and promote sustainable livelihood. She also called upon youth volunteers to spread awareness among all sections of the society to make it holistic campaign against drug menace. Dy S.P HQ, Manjeet Singh, in his address said the enforcement agencies are on job to tighten the noose around the drug peddlers. He further underlined the need to sensitize the vulnerable age groups about the devastating impacts of drug abuse on their physical and mental state. CHO, Ajay Sharma and Retainer lawyer from DLSA Kathua Advocate Puneet Kumari, emphasized on tackling the menace of drug abuse from multiple perspectives including deterrence, treatment and enforcement. The final day training session culminated with the united resolve from all participants to work in coordinated manner to root out the drug menace from the district. TSWO Kathua Vishav Bandhu Sharma, faculty members of GDC Kathua were also present on the occasion. |
