Udhampur, July 22: Under the leadership of Dr. Vinod Kumar-IPS, SSP Udhampur, and in the presence of District Drug Destruction Committee, Udhampur Police conducted the incineration of 771 kilograms and 934 grams of contraband poppy straw. The substance had been seized in connection with Case FIR No. 481/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act at PS Udhampur. The incineration process took place at M/S Anmol Healthcare Rakh Rara, Swankha Morh, Vijaypur, Samba, and was meticulously carried out by following all necessary formalities and rules. The destruction was closely monitored to ensure no harm to the environment. The District Drug Destruction Committee, comprising Sh. Anwar Ul Haq, Addl. SP Udhampur; Sh. Gurmeet Singh, DySP Hqrs Udhampur; and Sh. Darshan Singh, Sr. PO Udhampur, conducted the operation. Executive Magistrate Sh. Mohd. Saleem (NT Roun) and Sh. Kuldeep Bhan, Divisional Officer PCC Jammu, also accompanied the committee during the drug destruction process. Before the incineration, the seized contraband was thoroughly checked, weighed, and tallied with the records. The entire process, from the godown to the incinerator, was videographed and kept under strict security measures. This significant quantity of seized contraband substance was destroyed in accordance with Section 52-A of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. |
