Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 30: Natrang, renowned for its theatrical brilliance, presented 'Free Style Gawahi,' an enthralling play in Hindi, as part of its weekly theatre series, Sunday Theatre. The captivating performance took place at Natrang's Studio Theatre located in Kachi Chawni, Jammu. The play, written by Kaka Haathrasi, was skillfully directed by Neeraj Kant, while the publicity design was crafted by Vanshika Pandoh.
The narrative opens in a courtroom, where a distressed Marwari Seth Jhandamal confides in his lawyer Sharma that his crucial witness, Dharampal, has tragically passed away, leaving him uncertain about the case's outcome. With a reassuring smile, Lawyer Sharma assures Jhandamal that witnesses are easily found nowadays, providing some solace to the concerned plaintiff. Sharma promptly arranges for a witness named Satyapal, a professional in giving false testimonies. As Jhandamal prepares to present his case, he shares with Satyapal the financial dealings with Khaulal's father, stating the dues have risen to a staggering five lakh rupees, and now, even the original witness Dharampal is no more. Satyapal, confident in his abilities, brushes off any concerns, claiming he excels in giving "freestyle testimony."
As the court proceedings commence, Bhatnagar, the counsel for the respondent, initiates the question-and-answer session. Jhandamal presents a written document for evidence, with Satyapal as his witness. Skillfully dodging Bhatnagar's questions, Satyapal manages to keep the answers ambiguous, leading even the judge to believe in the authenticity of his testimony. Frustrated, Bhatnagar accuses Satyapal of accepting bribes without any proof, sparking a heated argument between Sharma and Bhatnagar. In response, the judge fines Bhatnagar five thousand rupees for his behavior and ultimately rules in favor of the plaintiff. Satyapal, Sharma, and Jhandamal celebrate their victory.
The play showcased Natrang's young talents, including Chirag Anand, Vedhant Suri, Gopi Sharma, Abir Beri, Abhimanyu Choudhary, and Sumit Singh Bandaral. Neeraj Kant handled the lights and music operations, while Mahikshit Singh took charge of the presentations. The show was flawlessly coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen.
'Free Style Gawahi' left the audience spellbound, capturing the essence of Natrang's theatrical brilliance. The play's masterful storytelling, coupled with exceptional performances by the young artists, was a testament to Natrang's commitment to the performing arts and its dedication to entertaining and enlightening audiences.
