Adolescent education programme at MIER | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 3: Shanti Gupta Centre for Women's Studies, MIER College in collaboration with Model Academy School, organized a two-day Adolescent Education Programme for the students of classes 9 th to 12 th . The programme was conducted in four sessions on the 1 st and 2 nd of August 2023 on the themes of life skills with a focus on SWOT Analysis and Stress Management. Shashi Rattan, Ex. Vice-Principal, JK Public School, Jammu, was the resource person. The Adolescent Education Programme places a strong emphasis on learning practical skills as the best way to deal with the difficulties of adolescence and also on the acquisition of different skills to navigate through them. Speaking on the first day of the workshop, Shashi Rattan explained life skills as the abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. She comprehensively talked about different life skills as envisaged by the WHO, such as problem solving, critical thinking, coping with stress, decision making, etc. Through different activities, she explained SWOT analysis and how we can use it to identify our strengths, weaknesses, and challenges. On the second day of the workshop, Rattan explained stress as a psychological and physical strain of tension generated by emotional, social, economic, or occupational circumstances, events, or experiences that are difficult to manage and endure. By providing examples and through interesting activities, she talked about various stress busting strategies like changing your attitude, involving in physical, relaxing, and recreational activities, talking to somebody etc. Students actively participated in the question answer sessions to clarify their doubts and also shared their experiences. Rupa Gupta, Jt. Director MIER and Director SSGCWS appreciated the joint efforts of the Centre for Women's Studies and the Model Academy School for conducting a workshop on the pertinent topics. She said life skills are essential abilities and competencies that enable individuals to navigate and cope effectively with the challenges and demands of everyday life. They play a crucial role in personal development, well-being, and success across various aspects of life and we all need to use some kind of stress busters to maintain the balance of life. Kritika, Gender Champion ably conducted the programme, and Shriya Sharma, Head Girl of the school welcomed the resource person. Anjali Jain and Ishu Sharma students of B.Ed. department presented a formal vote of thanks on the first and second of the programme. The event was organized under the supervision of Principal, Pramod Srivastava, Bharti Tandon, Convener CWS and Manju Vali, Academic Manager middle wing. |
