agencies NEW DELHI, Aug 3: Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, announced the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign during his recent Mann Ki Baat broadcast. The campaign is a tribute to the brave freedom fighters and courageous souls who sacrificed their lives for the nation. It will encompass various programs across the country to remember and honor these valiant individuals. As part of the campaign, Shilaphalakams (memorial plaques) will be installed in gram panchayats near Amrit Sarovars. A joint press conference was held in New Delhi to share this information, led by Secretary, Information and Broadcasting and Department of Telecommunications, Apurva Chandra, Secretary, Culture Govind Mohan, and Secretary, Youth Affairs, Meeta Rajivlochan. The campaign "Meri Maati Mera Desh" is set to conclude the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating India's 75 years of Independence. Last year's successful nationwide campaign, Har Ghar Tiranga, inspired an even more ambitious initiative this year. The program will feature the establishment of Shilaphalakams dedicated to freedom fighters and security forces, along with initiatives like Panch Pran Pledge, Vasudha Vandan, and Veeron ka Vandan, paying tribute to the gallant sacrifices of our bravehearts. Apurva Chandra highlighted the key components of the campaign, emphasizing the importance of media in spreading awareness about "Meri Maati Mera Desh" to every corner of the country. Secretary, Culture, Govind Mohan, shared that this campaign marks the culmination of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, which commenced on 12th March 2021, witnessing extensive public participation with over 2 lakh programs organized across India. The campaign will kick off on 9th August 2023, with events scheduled until Independence Day on 15th August. Various programs will take place at the village, block, municipality, corporation, state, and national levels. An 'Amrit Kalash Yatra' will be organized to bring soil from all corners of the country in 7500 kalash to create an 'Amrit Vatika' in Delhi, symbolizing the commitment to 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.
