JAMMU, Aug 4: Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda today visited day care Centre Aahat-a-Waqar for senior citizens here at Roopnagar.
Vivek Sharma, Director General, Social Welfare Department, Jammu; Harvinder Kour, MD Mission Vatsalya; Mamta Rajput, DSWO Jammu and other officers and officials of the department.
Commissioner Secretary interacted with senior citizens and discussed various issues.
Senior citizens of the day care extended their gratitude to the social welfare department for taking several initiative for providing various facilities in the day care for mental and physical well being of senior citizens which is very critical in their post retirement life.
The facility being provided at the day care Ahate Waqar includes badminton court ,table tennis, yoga room, computer facility along with Wi-Fi, carrom boards, chess, musical instruments among others.
Medical camps , yoga camps and other activities are being carried out in the day care centre from time to time.
The membership of day care has exceeded to 250 members this month which is expected to be increased in near future.
Commissioner Secretary has also assured for providing separate room for female members for their equal participation in the interest of gender equality and women empowerment so they can also avail the benefits being provided by the department. |
