ADGP Railways chairs security review meeting for ongoing events, Independence day preparedness

Jammu, Aug 8: Sunil Kumar, IPS, ADGP Railways J&K, led a significant meeting today at the Railway Headquarters (camp) Jammu to address essential security concerns. The meeting covered a comprehensive Security Review of the ongoing SANJY-2023 event, forthcoming Independence Day-2023 preparations, and a thorough Crime Review/Manpower Audit.
Attending the meeting were prominent officials, including Haseeb-ur-Rehman, IPS, DIG Railways J&K, Mohan Lal Kaith, SSP GRP Jammu, Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, SSP GRP Katra, and other senior officers from the GRP JK UT. During the meeting, ADGP Railways J&K discussed the ongoing SANJY-2023 event, a significant event in the region, and directed for a reinforcement of proper Security Arrangements at each Railway Station and along the Railway Lines. The primary focus was to ensure the safety of attendees and participants during the event, while also preparing for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
Emphasizing the importance of vigilance and preparedness, ADGP Railways J&K urged the officers to remain vigilant to counter any potential threats or disruptive activities from anti-national elements. The officers were directed to assess deployment strategies and maintain a heightened security presence until the successful conclusion of both the SANJY-2023 event and Independence Day celebrations.
The meeting also featured an in-depth review of recent crime incidents and investigations. ADGP Railways J&K provided crucial guidance for conducting professional and merit-based investigations, underlining the significance of swift and effective action against criminal activities.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the proposal to establish a “Railway Special Branch” (RSB) team comprised of plainclothes officers to monitor the security situation at Railway Stations. Additionally, ADGP Railways J&K called for the reinvigoration of the Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) teams across GRP Police Stations and Police Posts to contribute towards creating a drug-free society.
Concluding the meeting, ADGP Railways J&K urged all attending officers to meticulously implement the preventive measures discussed and adhere to the directives imparted during the meeting.
The commitment to ensuring safety and security in the region was reiterated, with the officers resolved to execute their responsibilities diligently.
