BILLAWAR, Aug 12: Government Degree College (GDC) Billawar celebrated National Librarians Day to honor the significant contributions of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan in the field of Library Sciences. This event was held as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Campaign and was organized under the guidance of Dr. Alka Sharma, Principal of GDC Billawar. The program commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge. Following this, Mr. Vidya Lal, College Librarian, delivered a comprehensive report on the life and achievements of Dr. Ranganathan in the realm of Library Sciences. He eloquently highlighted the timeline of Dr. Ranganathan’s contributions to the field. A documentary presentation followed, shedding light on the historical evolution of the Library Profession. The documentary underscored the relevance of modern-day technologies in managing information for effective utilization and swift retrieval. The program was graced by esteemed faculty members, including Prof. Lekh Raj (Convenor Library Committee), Prof. Nisar Ahmed Wani, Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Prof. Shamim Ahmed Bandey, Prof. Maqeem Ahmed, Prof. Raman Kumar, Dr. Arun Sharma, Prof. Yashpal, Dr. Kulbir Singh, Dr. Pinkey, Dr. Shiv Khajuria, Dr. Manu Sharma, Prof. Sunita, Prof. Kiran, and Ravi Kumar (Physical Training Instructor).
