JAMMU, Aug 12: In a harmonious display of patriotism and musical prowess, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Department of Commerce at GCW Bhagwati Nagar organized a captivating group song competition on the theme "Meri Matti Mera Desh," as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The event took place on the 12th of August, 2023, under the patronship of the college's esteemed Principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol.
Dr. Abrol emphasized the core objective of the event, which was to foster a deep sense of patriotism and to remind participants about the profound significance of India's Independence. The competition aimed to integrate the twin aspects of patriotism and music, while simultaneously refining the participants' language and presentation skills.
Four spirited teams, named after legendary playback singers, namely Team Lata Mangeshkar, Team Asha Bhonsle, Team Shriya Ghoshal, and Team Alka Yagnik, participated in the event. Each team was composed of four students from both the B.Com 3rd Semester and B.A 3rd Semester classes. The occasion provided a platform for the students to showcase their musical talents and a profound connection to the nation's heritage.
The participants exhibited unwavering enthusiasm and a burning desire to highlight their musical aptitude. Their performances resonated with calmness and poise, as they sang with melodious and soothing voices that reverberated through the auditorium.
The eminent panel of judges for the competition consisted of Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Prof. Gagan Jyoti, and Dr. Mosmi Raina. These esteemed individuals commended the students for effectively upholding the spirit of unity and love for the country through their musical endeavors.
Team Lata Mangeshkar, consisting of Anjali Bhatti, Amandeep, Radhika, and Sanskriti from B.A. 3rd Semester, emerged as the victors of the competition, captivating the audience with their outstanding performance. Their harmonious rendition of patriotic melodies earned them the coveted title.
The entire program was meticulously orchestrated under the expert supervision of Dr. Preeti Salathia, ensuring its smooth execution and resounding success.
Through this innovative and melodious endeavor, GCW Bhagwati Nagar not only commemorated the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav but also instilled a deep appreciation for the country's history and freedom among the participants, creating an indelible mark on their educational journey.
