JAMMU, Aug 12: The Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with the NSS unit of the college, marked International Youth Day with a focus on cultural and legal issues pertinent to the youth. The theme for the celebration was “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World,” reflecting the imperative of youth involvement in creating a better future. The series of activities began with a poster-making competition centered around the theme “Green Skills for Youth.” Students from various semesters showcased their artistic talents while depicting various aspects of green skills. Dr. Harpreet Kour, HOD Political Science, and Prof. Pooja Sharma, HOD Dogri, evaluated the posters. Anshuman of Sem V secured the first prize, Asrat Ahmed of Sem V claimed the second prize, and Khalid of Sem V was awarded the third prize. The second activity encompassed a speech competition on the topic “Role of Youth in creating a new world.” Students from different semesters passionately discussed the crucial role of youth in forging a world free from conflicts. Dr. Mussarat Choudhary, HOD Economics, and Dr. Anu Sharma, HOD Botany, judged the speeches. Zakir Hussain of Sem V emerged as the first prize winner, while Abida Kouser of Sem V secured the second prize. Rukhsar Ahmed of Sem V and Neha Khokhar of Sem V shared the third prize. The event was conducted under the patronage of Dr. B.B. Anand, Principal of GDC Sidhra. The successful organization of the event was made possible through the active support and coordination of Dr. Satbir Kour, Convenor of the Red Ribbon Club, Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, NSS PO, and Dr. Punam Rani, HOD History. The celebration was aligned with the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, resonating with the college’s commitment to youth engagement and empowerment. |
