Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 18: In a recent meeting chaired by Managing Director (MD) Shiv Anant Tayal of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), several important decisions were made regarding the installation of smart meters in Jammu and addressing the issues faced by the consumers. The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Distribution Sandeep Seth, Superintending Engineer Jammu Rajinder Gupta, and other senior officers of JPDCL, along with representatives from the project implementation agency RECPDCL.
During the meeting, MD JPDCL emphasized the need to resolve the problems faced by consumers with smart meters and urged the engineers and the project implementation agency to address these issues on a priority basis. He instructed them to educate consumers about the benefits of smart meters and ensure smooth installation without any flaws.
One of the key issues discussed was the delay in billing after the installation of smart meters. In response, MD JPDCL immediately directed the project implementation agency and private vendors to ensure timely billing. He warned of potential actions against vendors failing to comply with this directive. Furthermore, he instructed the project implementation agency to replace all damaged smart meters within the next week.
To enhance consumer support, MD JPDCL directed the concerned engineers to establish helpline numbers for resolving smart meter-related complaints at the sub-divisional level. The provided phone numbers for different areas are: 9419185576 (Vishal Anand) for Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Channi areas; 9419182220 (Ashutosh Sharma) for Greater Kailash, Digiana, Kunwani, Greater Jammu areas; 9622130283 (Abhineet Gupta) for RS Pura and Mira Sahib areas; and 9697581334 (Lakhwinder Singh) for Bishnah and adjoining areas.
MD JPDCL encouraged the public to use energy-efficient appliances to reduce consumption and save electricity. He also advised turning off the main switch while leaving homes to conserve energy. Lastly, he requested public support in the installation of smart meters to enhance service quality.
MD JPDCL also cautioned against fraudulent electricity disconnection messages, emphasizing that JPDCL does not send such messages and urged the public to remain vigilant against such scams.
