Javed Rana criticizes Govt over poor state of Eklavya Model Residential School | | | Early Times Report MENDHAR, Aug 19: Javed Ahmed Rana, President of JKNC Pir Panjal Zone and former Legislator, has voiced his strong dissatisfaction with the deplorable condition of the Eklavya Model Residential School situated in Behra, Mendhar. In a statement issued today, Rana drew attention to the stark disparity between the government's claims of welfare for tribal communities and the actual state of the school. It's noteworthy that during his visit to Poonch, LG Sinha affirmed the government's commitment to the well-being of tribal populations and proudly stated that the state-of-the-art Eklavya Model Residential School offers world-class education to tribal children. Rana expressed his dismay over the present condition of the Eklavya Model Residential School, asserting that it falls significantly short of fulfilling these promises. He pointed out that the Eklavya Model Residential School was approved in 2017 on a 200 kanals land in Mendhar. He stressed that he secured Rs 3 crore for the initial construction, and later an additional Rs 3 crore was allocated for the same purpose. Despite these funds, the school remains in a dilapidated state. Rana shed light on the challenges faced by the students, who are being denied their basic right to education due to the school's inadequate facilities. Essential necessities such as school uniforms, access to drinking water, and proper infrastructure are all absent, greatly hampering the students' ability to receive a quality education. He also strongly criticized the lack of action from the Tribal Department, highlighting their complete failure to oversee the school. Rana called for an investigation into the potential misappropriation of funds allocated by the Tribal Ministry for the welfare of the tribal community in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed frustration over the authorities' failure to declare the results of the class 6 entrance exams, causing unnecessary delays. Javed Ahmed Rana appealed to LG Sinha and the District Administration to personally visit the Eklavya Model Residential School and witness its dire conditions. He emphasized that the government should not boast about providing world-class education while students are struggling in such substandard conditions. The former Legislator urged the government not to compel the people of Mendhar to take to the streets to demand their basic rights and amenities, including a suitable learning environment for their children. |
