GMC Jammu achieves milestone with 500th training number in basic life support course

Jammu, Aug 19: The Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu celebrated a significant achievement in its journey of education and excellence by successfully conducting its 17th Basic Resuscitation Course. This course, which focuses on imparting essential life-saving skills, saw the successful training of 35 candidates. The occasion was made even more remarkable as the 500th training number was achieved during this course, marking a significant milestone in GMC’s commitment to healthcare training and delivery.
Under the guidance of GMC Jammu, this course has evolved into a beacon of knowledge and a foundation in healthcare delivery, particularly in critical life-saving situations.
Going forward, the course will be known as the “Basic Life Support Course (BLS)” and will be taught by faculty members accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA), following international standards and protocols.
This modification ensures that participants are equipped with the latest skills, insights, and protocols required to effectively save lives during critical moments.
To commemorate this achievement, a felicitation event was organized on August 19, 2023, with Professor Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, serving as the chief guest. During his address, Dr. Ashutosh Gupta highlighted the course’s significance for healthcare workers and expressed his full support for its continuation, acknowledging the efforts of the course team.
Dr. Anju Gupta, Head of the Anesthesia Department and Chairperson of the course, expressed her gratitude to the chief guest, students, instructors, and partners who contributed to the course’s success.
Dr. Abdul Ghani, Professor, and Head of the Orthopedics Department, assured the attendees of the institution’s commitment to maintaining the course’s high standards.
Dr. Renu Wakhloo, the Nodal Officer for the course, presented a vote of thanks on this occasion.
Faculty members who contributed to the success of the course, including Dr. Anjali Mehta, Dr. Arti Mahajan, Dr. Jasmeen Choudhary, Dr. Kunal Sharma, Dr. Santosh Rajput, Dr. Neha Dang, Dr. Heena Gupta, Dr. Ashufta, and Dr. Lovleen, were felicitated and appreciated for their dedication.
This achievement reaffirms GMC Jammu’s commitment to excellence in medical education and training, ensuring that healthcare professionals are equipped with the skills necessary to save lives and provide high-quality medical care in critical situations.
