DDC chairman leads introductory meeting for restructured PWD divisions in Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 28: Bharat Bhushan Bodhi, Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC) in Jammu, commended the reorganization and restructuring of the Public Works (R&B) Department, emphasizing its positive impact on residents' quality of life. He attributed the ease of accessibility to the department and its officers, ensuring swift issue resolution, to the proactive efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Government. Bodhi's remarks came during his leadership of an introductory meeting for the newly reorganized PWD Divisions, held at the PWD Guest House in Jammu. Notable attendees included Suraj Singh Bhau, Vice Chairman of DDC Jammu, along with 11 other DDC members, 2 Superintending Engineers, and 9 Executive Engineers. Previously, Jammu district had only 3 PWD Divisions; however, a recent restructuring initiative resulted in the establishment of 11 Divisions. The Administrative Council of J&K UT had sanctioned this decision earlier this year. Commending the Administrative Council's foresight, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi highlighted that the department's reorganization has brought it closer to the people, facilitating their access and engagement. He urged PWD officers to prioritize the resolution of pressing public issues within the department, especially focusing on expediting development projects. Given the heavy rains experienced during the summer, leading to substantial road and infrastructure damage, Bodhi stressed the urgency of repair and restoration. He directed the officers to concentrate their efforts on addressing this damage on a priority basis. Bodhi underscored the crucial role of roads as vital connectivity channels that significantly impact the daily lives of residents. As such, he emphasized the PWD Department's integral role in fostering the development of the Jammu district. |
