One person arrested with 150 banned chinese manja by police post Narwal | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 28: Jammu Police has intensified efforts to curb the sale of banned synthetic threads, commonly known as “manja,” used for flying kites. In various checkpoints established across different locations, the police have taken action against the sale of these banned materials. The Police Post Narwal received information about an individual involved in selling banned synthetic threads within the jurisdiction of PP Narwal. Acting on this information, a special police team from PP Narwal, led by SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari and assisted by SHO PS Bahu Fort Inspr Shiv Dev Singh and I/C PP Narwal SI Lalit Sharma, conducted a patrolling operation at Transport Nagar. During the operation, they apprehended a suspected person who was selling banned synthetic threads at his shop located at Yard No. 06, Transport Nagar Narwal. Upon searching the premises, the police recovered 150 Chinese Manja (Gattu), which is banned according to an order issued by the District Magistrate of Jammu on July 21, 2022. A case FIR (First Information Report) under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at PS Bahu Fort against the accused. The arrested person was identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Babu Ram and a resident of Ramgarh. The arrest was made in accordance with the District Magistrate’s order that bans the sale of plastic or synthetic threads (manja). The police have urged the public to inform their nearest police station or police post about any instances of synthetic thread sale. Additionally, the general public has been advised to refrain from purchasing or selling such banned synthetic threads (manja). |
